Is it Permissible for the Muslim Woman to Reveal her Awrah to a non-Muslim Female Doctor?

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadee al-Waadi`ee rahimahullaah was asked the following question:

Q: Is it Permissible for the Muslim Woman who has an Illness to Reveal her `Awrah (the part of a person that should be covered) to a female disbelieving doctor, especially if she was in a country of disbelievers?

A: It is permissible, and as for His saying – He, the Most High:

“Or their women.” [24:31];

In it is a clarification regarding that which a woman is allowed to reveal of her `awrah (the part of a person that should be covered), or her body – in front of other women.

Some of them say: His saying:

“Or their women.” [24:31]; excludes the disbelieving woman.

This is not true, so it is permissible for her to reveal that which she needs to for the purpose of treatment, or for other than the purpose of treatment.

And the disbelieving woman is to be dealt with just as the believing woman is dealt with, except if she fears the disbelieving woman will reveal and spread her secrets, then in such a case it is not allowed.

As for the issue of receiving treatment then it is permissible for the Muslim woman to receive treatment from the disbelieving woman – and there is no harm in that.

The ones who forbid that use as a proof His saying:

“Or their women.” [24:31];

They say: “This excludes the disbelieving women.” However this is not correct, as the intent is: it is allowed for the woman her to reveal something of her `awrah (the part of a person that should be covered) or of her body in front of another woman whether she was a Muslim or a disbeliever.
